This SOLID BLACK Opal is from the Lightning Ridge mining fields in Australia.

Deep fire red, copper orange with a touch of green and blue sparkle brightly over the opal as it is turned. Dominated by red, the play-of-colour is dynamic. This would make a gorgeous ring. On rotation, the colours move swiftly, rolling with vibrant colour. Deep rich colour even in the lowest lighting.
